My new digital camera’s here!

A few posts back I mentioned that my mom and Mike offered to go in on a camera for me for my birthday. After much going back and forth and trips to Nelson’s camera to test out different cameras, I did decide on the one I originally found, the Canon Digital Rebel Xti.
It arrived today!

The batteries [...]

What’s cooking

The past six work days have been filled with learning new people’s names and things I never thought I would have to know, like how to invoice a purchase at Starbucks for accounting. There are lots of interesting aspects to it and as a side effect of having to be so uber-organized at work, it’s creeping [...]

33rd birthday and new job

Tomorrow’s my 33rd birthday and the first day of my new job. Hopefully all goes well! Mike and I usually take our birthdays off from work and am at the mercy of the other person who gets to do whatever they want with the day. Normally I drag Mike to old bookstores, arthouse films, museums, [...]

Butterflies and Orchids

My mom had invited me to go to the Wild Animal Park today to see the Butterflies and Orchids exhibit, which goes on for about 3 weeks each year. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it. The butterflies are in a huge greenhouse basically, with lots of trees and unusual, brightly colored birds. But [...]

Filippi’s Encinitas is open!

Filippi’s Pizza Grotto is a San Diego establishment. There’s one in Little Italy of course, our favorite location in Pacific Beach, Poway, Temecula I think and a couple of others that we’ve never made it to.  When they closed our favorite deli, Hershel’s, we found out they were putting a Filippi’s in where Hershel’s was. Unfortunately Filippi’s [...]

There’s no crying in baseball

Well there was a little bit last Saturday. Mike and I went to Jack, his nephew’s, first tee ball game. He’s an Oriole, with the uniform and everything. I have to say this might be the best free entertainment. . . ever. The kids are just ridiculously cute in their uniforms. There was one girl on the [...]

I’m officially employed!

I finally accepted a position today! It’s not exactly what I was looking for originally, but I think the universe might know better than me on this one, so I went with it.
I’ve read too many blogs about people losing their jobs after bosses finding blogs, so you’ll be getting no details. Just know that [...]

What I’m reading now

It’s one of those books that I’ve had for a while but haven’t read yet.

I really need to pick a new blog format where I can have a section for a blogroll and what I’m reading!

What do you do with a drunken sailor? Or our dinner at an Irish pub

We decided to try someplace new for dinner on Friday night. We usually head south to Hillcrest and the surrounding area to try new restaurants, but that’s a bit of a drive and traffic was really terrible, so we decided to head north to Carlsbad. I overhead someone in line at Trader Joe’s talking about [...]

Dine Out For Life

On Thursday, April 26th there’s an event called Dine Out for Life. A lot of restaurants in San Diego and across the U.S. have pledged 25% of their day’s earning to donate to AIDS-related programs and research.
