I’m cranky today

There I said it. God what a relief. Just to not put on the smiling face and answer the “how are you doing today” question with the normal answer of “fine”.

Snapshots of the weekend

Mike and I decided to take a night away and stay at a hotel, which was a fun in-town getaway.

Mamma Mia’s Review

Mike and I decided to try a new restaurant down in Pacific Beach last Friday night, called Mamma Mia’s. The SD Tribune raved about it, and since it was owned and being run by actual Italians, I was very excited.
We called ahead and made a reservation, just to be safe, because the article mentioned long [...]

A lazy picture post

I should be studying or doing the filing that I’ve been putting off for weeks, but it’s so hot today I don’t feel like doing anything constructive.
I did however, feel like taking some pictures, but didn’t want to go out into the sticky heat that is San Diego today.  So, this is a lazy picture post [...]

Vintage and not-so-vintage photographs

Well, I’ve finally gotten around to posting about the pictures I took with the old Kodak Bullseye camera that I bought. For those of you that don’t remember me mentioning it, it was months ago and yes, I am a procrastinator. If you need further evidence, I still haven’t posted about my Yosemite trip in May. [...]

On their way to my house

Since I went to Yosemite in May and I’m relatively new at my job I don’t see a vacation on the horizon this summer, which is very unfortunate because I have the worst case of wanderlust right now. Reading about all of you living it Italy taking the whole month of August off is not [...]

And For No Reason

In yoga class last night the teacher read a poem by Hafiz. I honestly can’t remember the name of it because it was the end of class and I was completely relaxed and blissed out, laying in shavasana, listening to the guy next to me, who was obviously even more relaxed than I was, snore. [...]

Pana Cotta and Berries

Every couple of weeks I’ll get on a cooking kick of wanting to experiment with new recipes and I’m currently on one. I was looking through one of my cookbooks, mostly looking at the pictures for inspiration, I’ll admit it, and came across a picture of panna cotta, which I’d never made before.
Cream, milk, sugar, lemon zest, gelatin [...]

Panzanella

Sunday Mike and I headed to the Hillcrest Farmer’s Market to continue my search for the perfect tomato.

My next vacation

Because of course, I’m going to win the lottery before then. (Note to self - must actually buy lottery ticket to win the lottery!)
Anyway, October 13-21st in Perugia, Italy - a chocolate festival. Actually, probably THE chocolate festival.
I would post the website, but it’s all in Italian. Here’s an excerpt from Carolyn’s Italian journal blog that [...]
