Happy New Year!

Happy 2008! Hard to believe that I don’t have my flying car yet!
We had a fun Christmas, with Mike’s family, including two nephews, who kept us entertained for hours. New Year’s Eve was nice and mellow at home with some wine, game playing, a big green hat and a pink feather boa were involved and [...]

Cookbooks and Forgiveness

I used up the last of my previously mentioned gift certificate on this cookbook:

Esalen is an amazing retreat and spa in the Big Sur area. I’ve wanted to go there for years and have a massage and relax in the hot tubs overlooking the ocean. Since I can’t afford that right now, I figured the cookbook was [...]

Book shopping spree

Mike’s grandma called me the other day and said she had a Barnes and Noble gift certificate that she wasn’t going to use and asked if I wanted it. I think my response was something along the lines of. . . “I don’t understand, you don’t want to go spend basically free money on books?  [...]

On their way to my house

Since I went to Yosemite in May and I’m relatively new at my job I don’t see a vacation on the horizon this summer, which is very unfortunate because I have the worst case of wanderlust right now. Reading about all of you living it Italy taking the whole month of August off is not [...]

What I’m reading now

It’s one of those books that I’ve had for a while but haven’t read yet.

I really need to pick a new blog format where I can have a section for a blogroll and what I’m reading!

Pineneedles and Change

I had a job interview this morning down by Balboa Park, so afterwards I spent some time lying on the pine needles under the trees in the warm sun. One of the best smells in the world is pine needles warmed by the sun. It always reminds me of Yosemite.

What I’m Reading

I just finished this book today:

I’m A Stranger Here Myself, by Bill Bryson.  I read A Walk in the Woods previously and really enjoyed it, and this book is hysterical. Bill lived in England for 20 years with his family and when he returned wrote a weekly column for a newspaper on various subjects and these are [...]

Wanderlust

This was one of my posts on my myspace blog site, but I wasn’t enjoying posting there. I did want to carry this post over because I loved the passage from the book.

One of the books I’m reading right now is “A Year in the World”, by Frances Mayes. I’m not a huge fan of [...]
